Where to sleep, shop and dine in Islington. September 2020 Edition

SLEEP

CITADINES ISLINGTON LONDON

A former Royal Mail sorting office built in 1907, Citadines Islington London has 108 spacious studios and apartments ranging from 25 to 53 square metres. Each apart’hotel has been set up to feel like a home away from home.

Price ranges from £107.00+/night for a studio to £179+/night for a one bedroom apartment deluxe.

We spent two nights staying at Citadines Islington and it was delightful. We really appreciated the fully equipped kitchen and a full-sized fridge. We definitely made good use of them to make our own aperitivo snacks and cocktails in the evening. On top of that, we loved that we have a tv in the living room and also a tv in the bedroom. It truly felt like a home away from home.

MAYA MAGAL LONDON

Maya Magal located in Islington is considered one of my first loves in London. The year was 2016, I just moved to London after a year of traveling and my mom came to visit me for the first time. It was an early summer Sunday afternoon, I still vividly remembered the moment I looked into Maya Magal's display window on Upper Street and I immediately knew I want to own a piece of Maya Magal. The same day I received my first gift from my mom to congratulate me on moving to London: a Solid Gold Susannah Ring.

Maya Magal crafts modern jewellery by hand. The founder and Creative Director Maya spent years learning the ins and outs of jewellery in Hatton Garden, before opening up a studio to hone her style. Today she’s built a team that apply traditional techniques to contemporary designs and bring her ideas to life.

EAT

HUMBLE GRAPES

We have been fans of Humble Grapes since our first visit back in February 2018.

One of the unique offerings at Humble Grape is that all of the team members are budding wine experts. Their monthly wine flights allow you to sample four wines around a specific topic & give you little stories around the winemaker & the wines themselves.

On this particular Sunday, we have decided to come back to try their Sunday Roast.

Below are some details on the weekly Sunday Roast Offering:

Generous servings for £18-22: Pork Belly Poussin Beef Rump Nut Roast (this one's plant-based & gluten-free) and with each roast they'll fill the table with: • Yorkshire pudding • Grilled Cauliflower Cheese • Roast Root Veg • Broccoli & Pomegranate Seeds

• At the moment of writing, groups of four or more are also treated to a bottle of free wine!
